Christmas Wrapping 101

December 23, 2017

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted last. The summer flew by and senior year has been extremely hectic. Between work, homework, my internship, and grad school applications- I felt like I didn’t have a minute to breathe! But, after a lot of hard work this semester and a very rewarding report card, I am finally home and bored out of my mind. 🙂

But, Christmas is less than two days away (EEK!). Which means everyone is scrambling to find last minute gifts and wrap in time to get the presents under the tree.🎄 There’s fewer things in this world I love more than giving gifts. Which makes Christmas my all-time favorite holiday. Year-around, anytime I see something that reminds me of a friend or family member, I buy it right away and store it in a secret spot to save as a Christmas gift.

With that, anyone who knows me knows how much I love being crafty. That little talent really came in handy this year when I decided to save my wrapping for the very last minute. I gathered all of my presents together yesterday only to walk downstairs and realize everyone used up all the wrapping paper!!! 🙂 Since I refused to get out of my cozy Christmas pj’s and actually go out in public, I decided to make use of materials we already had around the house.

My first idea was to take the newspaper we had leftover from that morning to use as wrapping paper. I’m really happy with how adorable it came out. Yet, it was short-lived considering there wasn’t much newspaper left and my brother refused to hand over the sports section.🙄

(TIP: Try to use a piece of newspaper without any color- if you can find one. The black & white paper will make the color of the ribbon pop a lot more!)

My next idea was to take the immense amount of brown paper bags we have stored in the laundry room to use as wrapping paper!

Cut it open, rip off the handles and start wrapping away! Keep in mind these bags are thicker than regular wrapping paper, making them more difficult to work with. Focus and work slowly. Also, use stronger tape!

I got this cute little plant at Dollar Tree last year and just used wire cutters to cut it! The patterned tape is from the $1 section at Target!

The more bags the better! Big ones work great for wrapping larger gifts, like boxes with clothes in them.

One thing I love about wrapping with these bags is that it’s a completely blank canvas for me to work with! Meaning, so many Christmas trees to draw! 😍

I used the paint markers we had in our craft room to draw this. But some of my favorite are the ones from Sharpie and Montana Colors.

If you run out of brown paper bags, just start using white ones!

I found this really cute “To: From:” stamp also in the dollar section of Target BUT….

The ink refused to catch on to the stamp in certain spots.😞  So, I had to come up with a plan B.

We have boxes of scrap paper/cardstock organized by color in our craft room. So, I went and found these gems and just scaled them down to cover my little mishap.

My mom loves using stamps to label our Christmas presents.

We use the Ink It Up ink, available at Michael’s. And our favorite stamps are the foam letter one’s from Making Memories. Sadly, they have discontinued them. But I linked similar ones here and here.

I linked some cute wrapping papers I wish I could’ve used here 🙂

I think it’s maybe snowed 3 times here in MA and that’s 3 times too many for me. (I’m so bad😕 ) Though, I do love the snow during Christmas time. I just cannot wait to be in sunny Florida getting a tan come the 26th.😎 👙 After that, I’ll back in New England for New Years then I go to Georgia for 4 days. (I’m running away from the cold!)

Does anyone else have any special plans for the holidays/winter break? Share them in the comments below!

Dorm Room Decor

January 31, 2017

Welcome to my first blog post! 🙂

I’m so excited to share my dorm room with you since I LIVE for decorating. I still have a few minor decorations to add but I just could not wait to share!

The inspiration for this semester was a whole lot of white with touches of gold and rose pink. Finding my ruched duvet on PBteen really tied the look together perfectly!

I love the company Desenio for any kind of prints. I found these ones on there and couldn’t love the combination more!

I have a serious problem with spending a mass amount of my money on throw pillow that I have no where to put. So, of course I squealed in delight when I found WillaSkyeHome on Etsy. Both the dalmatian-print pillow and the rose pink one behind it are from her shop.

^^ My little European-inspired book stack since I’m missing my home away from home.

I found this canvas extremely cheap at Michaels. So, I bought it with no idea what I was going to paint on it. It seemed only fitting to paint a world map after my recent travels. The beauty of painting it all myself is being able to match the colors perfectly to the rest of my room. I wanted to paint it larger than normal to add emphasis to Italy and Cape Cod (pic below), which is also why Hawaii and the majority of Asia aren’t there (whoops!).

I’m finally living with some of my really close friends in a suite this year after having been forced to live in a freshman dorm my first two years of college. Although it doesn’t compare to my view or apartment in Florence (posts to come), the extra space is wonderful and I’m looking forward to a great semester!
